Kadlec has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse Lactation Specialist to join our growing Labor And Delivery team located in Richland, Washington!
Shift Details: Full Time, 0.9. 12 hour variable shifts. Shifts include weekends.
Graduation from an accredited nursing program required.
Bachelor’s in Science of Nursing or higher from an accredited educational institution, or Bachelor’s in Science of Nursing or higher in progress, required. If Bachelor’s in Science of Nursing or higher is in progress, must be completed within 3 years from date of higher.
Current WA State RN Licensure
Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS
NRP within 3 months
At least 1 year of recent maternal child nursing experience, with emphasis on breast-feeding required.
- Bi-lingual or multi-lingual skills
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
As a Registered Nurse Lactation Specialist you will perform activities to encourage and support breast feeding to Kadlec Medical Center families including inpatients, outpatients, prenatal clients and employees. Updates nursing staff/Physicians on current information regarding breast-feeding and performs related duties as assigned.
Demonstrate and sustain compliance with the Caregiver Expectations and Code of Conduct.
Provide consultation and instruction in basic breast feeding routines and techniques to new mothers, both inpatient and outpatient.
Identify and problem-solve breast feeding problems, both inpatient and outpatient.
Provide instruction, written information and demonstration of the use of various types of breast pumps and other devices.
Schedule outpatient visits and provide consultation for breast feeding problems following discharge.
Document nursing interventions, patient response, effectiveness and complications.
Serve as a resource for Kadlec Medical Center staff, physicians, and physicians’ office staff.
